Sweet word - Confects
26.11.2019
Enjoying delicious, aromatic and healthy fruit confects we rarely think about the origin of the word “confect”. But once confects were considered as a medicine and even translated from Latin as "ready-made drugs." This “sweet word” came to us from the 18th century in two versions - “candy” and “confection”; both - from the Latin "confectum": from "con" - "together" and "facio" - "to do." It meant “made”, “cooked” (potion, medicine), and after passing through the Italian language, it turned into “confetto” - “a small confectionery”. We got this word in two ways: directly from Latin and through Italian, hence we have the different forms of the word.
